Centrifugal Clutch without Housing
If the clutch housing or “Drum” is provided by the customer, the centrifugal clutch can be supplied as a rotor only. Typical application is the vibratory tamper.

No Load Starting with the
Centrifugal clutches are designed to provide a “soft-start” or “no-load” acceleration for the driving machine on start up, they also allow the prime mover to idle without load and without driving the driven equipment. This feature is particularly important on applications having a high inertia and requiring a high starting torque.
If the clutch housing or “Drum” is provided by the customer, the centrifugal clutch can be supplied as a rotor only. Typical application is the vibratory tamper.
With this type of design, the clutch pulley, be it V-belt, poly-V or timing belt is integrated into the clutch drum, this results in a compact, space-saving and inexpensive design.
Centrifugal clutches used with V-belt transmissions, like all belt drives, rely on optimum belt tension to maintain an efficient drive. Under normal circumstances belt tensioners are used for this purpose, however in certain cases such as when the center distance between the pulleys is limited, the use of tension rollers etc is not always possible.
As with the automatic belt tensioner clutch the Manual Tensioner Clutch offers the same compact design, and eliminates the need for an additional tensioning system.
Centrifugal clutches designed to connect two shaft ends can be supplied both with and without an alignment bearing. With this design it is important to ensure that accurate alignment between the driving and driven machine is achieved.
To accommodate shaft misalignment and provide torsional resilience, we recommend a centrifugal clutch and flexible coupling assembly. This design is frequently used in pump and compressor drives where high torsional vibration is common place and has to be designed for.
On applications where in addition to shaft misalignment also torsional vibrations may occur, the use of centrifugal clutches with flanged elastic coupling elements is needed.
Our centrifugal clutches can be provided with a machined interface to allow the customer to fit other forms of drive connections to the clutch such as sprockets, pulleys, drive shafts or flanges etc.
On this type of centrifugal clutch the clutch drum is fitted with a sprocket to suite a specific chain drive application. We offer a wide range of stock sprockets, for applications such as Go Karting.
